Anywhere from nothing to a few dollars a month for a typical small bot. Discord charges nothing for bots. What you pay for is a computer that keeps your bot's program running day and night. On VyroAI.vip, the smallest hosting plan is 100 credits per 30 days, which is $1.21 at the price of our smallest credit pack. Below: what actually drives the cost, the four ways to host a bot and their catches, and our full price table.
A Discord bot is a program that has to stay connected to Discord. If the program stops, the bot goes offline. Hosting means renting, or providing, a machine that keeps it running. Five things decide the price:
Cost: electricity and the hardware you already own. Catch: the bot is only online while that machine and your internet connection are. Restarts, updates and power cuts take it down. Fine for testing. Risky for a bot a community relies on.
Cost: $0. Catch: there is always a limit somewhere. Common ones are small memory caps, bots that sleep when idle, having to renew or watch ads to stay online, shared machines that slow down at busy times, and support that is best effort at most. Read the terms for "24/7". Some free hosts mean it, and some mean "until you stop renewing". A free host is a sensible first step for a small bot, as long as you have a plan for when it outgrows the limits.
Cost: a monthly fee to a cloud provider. Catch: you get a whole Linux machine, and running it is your job: installing Node.js or Python, keeping the bot alive after a crash, security updates and backups. Even the cheapest plans usually have far more memory than one small bot needs. That makes a VPS good value if you run several bots, or a bot plus a website, and poor value for one small bot.
Cost: a monthly or per-period fee, usually priced by memory. Catch: less control than a VPS. In return you upload the bot, press Start and read the console, and someone else runs the machine. For most people with one or two bots, this is the least work per dollar.
We build Discord bots and can also run them on our bot server, which is separate from the main site. Plans are priced per 30 days, in credits from the same balance you build with:
| Plan | RAM | CPU | Disk | Credits per 30 days | At the Basic pack's price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Micro | 128 MB | 5% | 256 MB | 100 | $1.21 |
| Small | 256 MB | 10% | 512 MB | 200 | $2.42 |
| Medium | 512 MB | 25% | 1 GB | 400 | $4.84 |
| Large | 1 GB | 50% | 2 GB | 800 | $9.68 |
The dollar column uses our Basic pack: 1,000 credits for $12.10, including 21% VAT (adjusted at checkout outside the EU). Bigger packs give more credits per dollar. The Business pack is 11,000 credits for $121, so the same plans cost about 9% less. The CPU column is a share of one processor core.
How the billing works:
Two catches, so you are not surprised:
There is no honest single number, because it depends on the library, how many servers the bot is in and what it keeps in memory. A practical way to find out:
Music bots, bots with a web dashboard and bots in many large servers usually need a bigger plan than a moderation or ticket bot for one community.
If you don't have a bot yet, VyroAI.vip can write one from a description. When it is built, press Start and pick a plan, and it runs on our bot server with nothing to install.
Is it free to make a Discord bot? Yes. Creating a bot application in the Discord Developer Portal costs nothing. Only keeping it online costs money, and even that can be free for small bots.
Is free Discord bot hosting really 24/7? Sometimes. Read the host's terms for sleep rules, renewals and memory caps before you rely on it.
What happens when my hosting days run out with you? The bot stops. Add days in the same plan dialog, then press Start. Nothing is charged automatically.
Which languages can your hosting run? Node.js and Python.
Can I pay by the day? You buy a block of days, from 1 to 365, priced in proportion to the 30-day rate.
