Do Folia Plugins Run on Paper?

Usually yes: Paper has the same schedulers Folia plugins use. The other way round is the catch. How to make your own VyroAI plugin run on Paper and Folia.

Usually yes, and the other way round is the catch

Folia is a fork of Paper that ticks each region of the world on its own thread. A plugin written for Folia schedules its work with region schedulers, and current Paper builds have those same schedulers, so it usually loads and runs on Paper too.

A normal Paper plugin is different. Folia only loads plugins marked folia-supported: true, and the mark alone is not enough: the plugin's scheduling has to be rewritten for Folia as well.

Both directions

You haveYou runDoes it work?
A plugin made for FoliaPaperUsually yes
A plugin made for FoliaSpigotOften no, because Spigot does not have those schedulers
A normal Paper pluginFoliaNo, unless it says `folia-supported: true` and was rewritten for it
A plugin built for bothPaper or FoliaYes

Making your own plugin run on both

In Project Settings → Build, switch off Use global build settings first (it is on by default and hides the question). Then, under What does this target?, tick Paper and Folia. You still get one jar, because they share one plugin API family.

With Folia ticked, the AI is told to use the region and global schedulers instead of the old Bukkit scheduler, and to put folia-supported: true in plugin.yml. Tick it before the AI writes the project: code already written for Paper does not change on its own.

Before you move a live server to Folia, run a copy of it with the same plugins. The console lists every plugin Folia skipped.
